Reverse Networking
What is a “Reverse Network”? We coined this term, because it fits what we do here at Hit Oldies.
Normally, in broadcasting, a ‘Network’ refers to the system of distribution of one source of programming content to many broadcasters via satellite or some other conduit all at the same time, using generic identifiers and terms. Anotherwords, your station may receive content from a ‘Network’ originating from New York or Los Angeles, or even Ottawa, and what you broadcast may include time checks that say, for example, “Its twenty minutes past the hour” or something of that nature. You may never even hear a time check or any local content whatsoever except for your local break, but that’s the nature of Network Programming. Sophisticated computer automation has done much to localize to a certain degree, but a station is never truly ‘local’ in this sense.
In a ‘Reverse Network’, programming is localized by the air talent themselves, who broadcast LIVE – to your station ONLY. This is not Voice tracking or pre recorded programming but Live real-time personalities fully dedicated to your radio station and YOUR COMMUNITY, and you as PD or GM can totally control the elements. Time checks, Updated Weather, Liners, ID’s, Commercials, Jingles… it’s all there, you supply the formatics, We make sure it happens. Correctly, CURRENTLY and most importantly, LOCALLY.
You see, talent can reside anywhere in which there is a broadband internet connection, and still be local to your community. All your commercials, jingles and other production will be played by the jock on duty in real time. This is accomplished via our audio server. Our server IP address simply becomes an event in YOUR automation. Switching between local and internet source can be accomplished by you live in the studio, or remotely via secure login.
In short, every aspect of programming you need to be a live, local station to your community are available to you, without the need for an expensive satellite setup, and without the generic clutter that has no meaning to your audience. We call it “Reverse Networking”, and it can work for your station.
You can substantially reduce costs and have access to major market talent that otherwise would not be available to you.
Consider HitOldies for some parts of your week or weekend. This is the future of radio.
